The Lodge at Breckenridge Wedding | Colorado

COVID-19 has been anything but predictable. For our Wyoming and Colorado weddings, most of our couples either postponed, did a smaller ceremony this year with plans a big celebration next year, or modified their original plans and continued on. Elaine called me last spring and said, “It’s not going to be what we had planned. We still want to get married. I feel like I’ve planned three different weddings because I’ve planned for three different scenarios. I can’t push this out another year.” Elaine and Peter’s Breckenridge, Colorado wedding ended up being a bit smaller and at a different venue. The pandemic had cancelled many weddings, and The Lodge at Breckenridge now had an opening. Masks were required. No one minded. Everyone had a blast, us included.

The Lodge at Breckenridge has an amazing patio that can be used for ceremonies and cocktail hours for receptions. It has wonderful views of the ski hill, and lovely light in the evenings. It was an incredibly warm day, coming in at 80 degrees on the patio during the ceremony, but it cooled off later in the evening as the sun went down for people to enjoy the patio during cocktail hour.

When this pandemic initially hit, I was so sad about missing out on the things I love the most about weddings — the genuine moments, people touching, hugging and dancing. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how this year has taken shape. Yes, there are some changes. Yes, there’s a bit more to think about. But the important things remain. Love is still at every event. Joy can’t be masked. And true connection isn’t something that has been forgotten. In fact, I believe we value it more than ever before.

Elaine and Peter, thank you for letting us capture your day. We had the BEST time with you and your families and friends. Congratulations!!
