Aline & Austin, Deployment Shoot | Cheyenne, Wyoming Engagement and Wedding Photographer
This was a bittersweet session, as Aline and Austin were just married last year, and this year, they are preparing for Austin to be deployed. The weather has been so hit or miss this spring, but we were able to reschedule for a date when the apple trees were in full bloom, which got me thinking about upcoming wedding clients and their engagement photos.
So many couples get engaged in the fall or later on during the winter holiday season and then get married the following summer or fall, leaving the only timeframe in which to do engagement photos during the winter months. This is especially true if you want to use those engagement photos for save the dates or invitations. Now, don’t get me wrong, winter engagement photos can be quite nice, but generally, spring, summer and fall photos offer so much more in terms of color (and so much less chance of frostbite!). So here is my small, insignificant campaign for the spring/early summer proposal.
Now I’m a realist, and I realize that women are much more likely to be the ones happening upon this blog post, so ladies, here’s what I suggest. If you were like me, the fact that he was about to propose was not exactly a big surprise. I had months of waiting for that “magic moment,” knowing that my then boyfriend was biding his time until he had crafted the perfect situation in which to ask. And I know it’s highly unlikely your boyfriend is reading this, so here’s what I suggest; leave open the computer to this page, and as you walk away from it, say something like this, “Honey, maybe we should do some fun couples photoshoot while the weather is so nice. Look how pretty those are.” Not exactly subtle, I know. But perhaps it will clue him into thinking, “Why would we do couples photos, when we’re probably going to need engagement photos soon anyway?” And being the smart man he is, hopefully he’ll make that jump from point A to B and realize he needs to get on the ball for this whole engagement thing. Probably not. But here’s hoping, anyway! 😉
I really, really loved this session, and I really love this sweet couple. I wish them all the best as they embark on this new journey together. I’ll be praying for you both that the time that Austin is away will fly by! Thanks so much for asking me to take these, Austin and Aline!
