Ashley & Brian | Denver Museum of Nature and Science | Cheyenne, Wyoming Wedding and Engagement Photographer

Think about the place you and your spouse met and started dating. For me, that was Laramie, and I think I hold a special nostalgia for it because it was such a big part of how we met. For Ashley and Brian, it was Denver. While they now live in Cheyenne, Denver will always hold a special place for them. Ashley and Brian had their first date at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, so it was a perfect place to meet up one fall morning last year to capture their engagement photos.  It’s not often I get to incorporate city-scapes into my engagement sessions, so I always jump at the chance to do that. The museum is located on the grounds of City Park, so we had tons of natural areas to use in addition to the amazing architecture of the building.

At wedding consultations, I often prep my couples for their engagement photos, urging them to think of things they like to do together. While I’m not a huge fan of props, I do like to highlight something that is unique about their relationship and something that conveys who they are as individuals and as a couple. For Ashley and Brian, they share a love of reading, so a natural fit for our second location was The Tattered Cover Book Store. For those of you who know me well, it doesn’t take much convincing to get me to set foot inside a book store. I love the smell, the quiet, and the feeling of possibility I get when I’m inside a bookstore. I love the feel of paper and the variation of size, color and texture of the books lining rows and rows of shelves. The Tattered Cover is legendary, and its old world feel was a beautiful backdrop for this sweet couple. Plus, ring shots and Harry Potter? Sign me up!

I’m so honored to capture Ashley and Brian’s wedding day this upcoming June. Congrats to you both and thanks for making me a part of your day!
