Kevin & Elon | Wyoming Wedding Photographer, Cheyenne, Wyoming
I adore this couple. I was so blessed to have been the one to document their engagement and wedding this past summer in Cheyenne. They have an amazing connection, something that was apparent to me the first time I photographed them. I was further convinced of that connection when their wedding day brought blustery wind and a downpour that threatened to take their beautiful table decorations floating downriver to Colorado, and they laughed their way through it, enjoying it just as much or more as they might have had it been a bluebird day. I think that’s a pretty tell-tale sign of a couple destined for many good things. 🙂
You might glance at their bride and groom portraits and think I’m fibbing about all that rain. Well, that is because we took these on an entirely different night than that of the wedding. I must say that I love that idea. Elon suggested we do her and Kevin’s couples portraits the week before on a day that she had a practice run with the stylist who was doing her wedding hair and makeup. Most of my couples opt not to see each other before the bride walks down the aisle, and I completely understand that nod to tradition. I made that choice as well on my own wedding day (long before I was a photographer!). If I could rewind time, however, I might choose an option similar to this. I realize that my photographer-perspective is completely biased, but it made for a very relaxed evening in which the couple was focused totally on each other — no reception guests waiting, no wedding details to worry about, just a quiet evening devoted to documenting their love.
Now onto the big day! I loved so many details about this wedding. First off, you MUST see her shoes! They are, hands down, the most incredible and intricate wedding shoes I’ve ever seen. Elon had these hand-painted by someone she found on Etsy. She wanted to commemorate the fact that Kevin proposed in a Japanese garden. That theme was carried through to the table decorations and cherry-blossom details on the bride’s hair-piece and the wedding cake. PS – If you are in the market for a wedding cake in the Cheyenne area, you really should check out Cakes by Susan. Every time I am blown away by a cake design, it is one by Cakes by Susan. She is incredible. (I can’t wait for you to see the one she did for last weekend’s wedding!)
You might notice the groom holding up the wedding arch through the ceremony. The Cheyenne wind was howling throughout the whole ceremony, and it was followed by that downpour I mentioned earlier. This wasn’t a typical Wyoming 30 minute shower followed by sunshine, however; it poured the entire night. The couple made a fast decision to move all of their beautiful reception decorations from the yard into the groom’s parents home. It made for a cozy and intimate evening enjoyed by all in attendance.
Thanks, Kevin and Elon, for making me a part of your memorable and amazing day. I enjoyed working with you two SO much. Congratulations!!
