Wyoming Wedding Photographer 2022 Year in Review
Summarizing an entire year in wedding photos is always hard. This past year? I didn’t even know where to begin. If you’ve talked to any wedding vendor about 2022, they’ve probably told you this past year was insane. If 2020 was a bizarre “what-do-we-do?!” year, and 2021 was the start of the catch-up on “back-to-normal” weddings, 2022 was the “hold my beer” year.
And our wedding clients brought it. It was an all-in, put-your-hands-up, cake-on-your-face kind of a year. We are still recovering. We are both still sore, tired, and trying to make sense of it all.
Thank you to each and every one of our clients. You took us to the top of the world this year at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, complete with an oxygen bar to keep your guests dancing at elevation all night, followed by the best starlit gondola ride down the mountain at the end of the evening. You rolled with the angry Wyoming weather, moving a ceremony inside a tent and keeping good spirits despite a torrential downpour in Centennial at Brooklyn Lake Lodge. You picked grapes from a vineyard in Fort Collins at The Hillside Vineyard, and you got married in the coldest, most beautiful winter wonderland at Snake River Ranch in the Tetons. But more than anything, you all let us into your moments, your relationships, and your incredible worlds for days at a time. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for entrusting us with your memories. Congratulations to you all.
I say this every year, but I would not survive without Liz by my side in these adventures. Often, she literally keeps us alive by taking over driving duties when I am so tired I can no longer see. Weddings and engagements took us to Jackson three times this year, once on snow-packed and icy roads, and once in the fall in a marathon 24 hour round-trip excursion. I don’t know how she puts up with me, honestly. But we somehow manage to survive on car candy stashes and conversation, no matter how long the trip. We drove all the way to Jackson and back without even turning on the radio. Get yourself a friend like that.
Liz also edits the vast majority of images in each wedding gallery. I think she might be superhuman. She has made our turnaround time unbeatable in our market, making sure you see your images within 4-6 weeks of your event. Not only that, she’s just a badass, keeping everything running smoothly on wedding day and truly being one of the best photographers I’ve ever had the privilege of working with. I think our clients would agree that we are all lucky to have her around on wedding day. Thank you so much for everything, friend!
Ok, I am going to leave you with the recap video. I never know if anyone watches these, except maybe my mom (hi, Mom!), but Liz and I have both decided we need these recaps. They have become reminders of our “why” when were are in the midst of future busy seasons. Weddings can be brutal, especially in busy years. They are hard on vendors emotionally and physically. But there is no other work that engages me more. I get to see the best of humanity, amplified to the extreme and on display in a million tiny little moments with each and every wedding I document. Thank you all for giving me the most incredible glimpses of human connection. Have a healthy, safe and happy 2023!
